Story of a revival

After years of research and work, Adrian Original comes to life and offers an exclusive experience to the discerning woman.

This passion project goes back to when Kate Silverman, founder of Adrian Original, wrote her college thesis about the Theater de la Mode, a period of history where apparel design was meant to be practical and beautiful. During this research, she discovered Adrian’s universe and realized that even if everyone knew his legacy, there had not been a revival of his fashion house. After meeting with business partners, the idea of the revival came quickly, and with the support of Renaud Dutreil – former Chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy USA, the brand was acquired. Kate then wished to follow in Adrian’s footsteps, training in Paris, like Adrian did, with a former chef d’Atelier of a renowned house. Upon returning to the US she continued exploring the archives at institutions and museums in California and New York. She would ultimately seek out Adrian’s son Robin Adrian, who she would meet in person to share in her dreams of the revival, and who offered his support for this goal.

In 2016, Kate continued to build on the project, assembling a team and leading the revival. First coming to life with a Capsule collection made only for private clients, this was followed by the new Spring Summer 2018 collection designed by Gregory Lagola, who joined the adventure early on, and who gave shape to a long-standing dream.

Today, the brand has moved into the heart of New York’s Fashion District, and the studio showcases the juxtaposition of the original and the new. In an intimate space, archival pieces from vintage perfume bottles, magazine ads, and Adrian Original apparel is presented with new designs, creating a refreshing update to the classic workshop.
